new books!

16 Sep 2009

Things are getting back to normal a little.  We're still super busy, but it's somewhat manageable at present.

We did want to let you know about our 2 new products that will be available in October.  We compiled our monthly table runners and wall hangings into fun seasonal books and are almost finished with the Spring and the Winter sets.  They're currently at the printers and should be finished soon!

Seasons Gone Pie - Spring includes March, April and May.  For each month, there are 5 different patterns.  It also gives a little bit of insight into our crazy lives here in the country where we are blessed to experience all four seasons!

Seasons Gone Pie - Winter includes December, January and February.  Again, there are 5 patterns for each month and don't forget the dessert recipes!

These books were definitely a labor of love.  We wanted you to get more "bang for your buck" and they will be priced very reasonably for as many patterns as there are.  Check back for more information and to order one soon!

Update: Our "sewing room" project is coming along nicely.  The roof is shingled, the electrician is finished, the heating is finished.  We're now onto insulation and sheet rock etc. etc. etc.  There's still a lot of work to be done, but we should be in before the snow flies.  We hope that if you're in the area, you'll stop and visit!

frazzled

22 Aug 2009

If you happen to meet us on the street and we seem a little frazzled...there is an explanation.  Actually, there are a few different reasons why we've been running around like crazy women:

#1.  My sister got married recently.  Weddings are great, but they sure are a lot of work.

#2.  We had a quilt retreat the first weekend of this month (in between the two wedding receptions) at our family cabin.

#3.  We're working on two new projects:  We are compiling our monthly wall hanging and table runner patterns into books.  They will be put together in seasons with three new projects for each month.  Winter and Spring are due to come out in October (hopefully...).  We lightened our load by hiring sewers and quilters, but, oh! the binding takes a long time...as well as writing and drawing diagrams etc. etc. etc.  Check back for more information on these projects.

#4.  We've also been assisting in putting a pattern book together for Riley Blake Designs, our good friends from Christensen Wholesale.  The patterns use their upcoming lines of fabric, and we are so excited to see it near completion!

#5.  We are expanding!  We started as a small in-home business, but our hobby and work have overtaken my mom's house, and Pie Plate Patterns will soon have a new home (right next door to my mom's house).  The foundation is done.  Wes did an excellent job and he was fast!  My brother, Ross, is doing the framing (with Jared and Jason's help) The walls are all up, and we are thrilled that we'll be able to declutter the house once and for all and have our own place to work.  Here are some pictures of the construction!

Keep smilin!
